PROJECT INFORMATION

Residential new build in Frederikssund

Bakkekvarteret in Vinge is a development project in which Ikano Bolig is exploring how future housing can be constructed with a significantly lower carbon footprint than conventional residential developments. As part of the Boligbyggeri fra 4 til 1 Planet initiative, supported by Realdania and Villum Fonden, the project serves as an important learning case for the future of low-carbon housing. Through conscious choices of construction methods, materials, and building principles, the project team is working towards reducing the building's carbon footprint to below 2.5 kg CO₂e/m²/year. As part of the project, a:gain supplied Bronsø for facades, terraces, and fencing. Bronsø has contributed to the project's climate ambitions through conscious material choices while helping shape the building's natural architectural expression. The solution reflects a future-oriented aesthetic based on the increased use of resource-efficient and biobased materials.

Awards Description

4to1 planet


The 4to1 Planet initiative aims to challenge and inspire material manufacturers, designers, contractors and developers to create housing with significantly lower emissions of CO₂ and other greenhouse gases. The target is to reduce CO₂ emissions from new residential construction to 2.5 kg CO₂e/m²/year. The association Boligbyggeri fra 4 til 1 planet is supported by the philanthropic association Realdania and the non-profit VILLUM Foundation, with a combined grant of DKK 60 million.

Nordic Swan Label


The Nordic region’s official environmental certification for buildings. The certification is awarded to projects that meet strict requirements for environmental impact, climate, materials, chemicals, energy consumption, and indoor climate throughout the building’s entire life cycle. Its purpose is to promote more sustainable construction with a focus on both environmental performance and human health.
