PROJECT INFORMATION
Public & civic new build in Ejby
Ejby Recycling Centre - designed around what already exists. Ejby Recycling Centre in Middelfart Municipality has been developed as an example of how resource-conscious material choices can be integrated into new construction. Early in the process, a deliberate strategy was established to let the available materials help determine the design, rather than the other way around. As a result, roof tiles, concrete elements, timber, bricks, windows and tiles from previous buildings have been integrated throughout the new facilities. At the centre of the site is a circular building with a swap shop and activities designed to inspire visitors to make better use of the resources that already exist. For the project, a:gain supplied Funderø parquet flooring, bringing secondary wood resources into the building and supporting the project’s overall approach to resource efficiency.
