PROJECT INFORMATION
Public & civic renovation in Nykøbing Falster
Fremtidens Værested – when architecture supports well-being. In Nykøbing Falster, the Church of the Cross, with support from Realdania and the A.P. Moller Foundation, has created new physical surroundings for a social drop-in centre. The project is based on the concept of social bricks, where architecture and interior design are actively used to support social work and create safe, dignified and inclusive surroundings for its users. The design was developed through close involvement of both users and staff, and a subsequent evaluation by VIVE has shown positive effects on social relations and the work of the staff. As part of the project’s material choices, a:gain supplied Funderø wood flooring made from discarded wood, bringing products from secondary resources into the new surroundings.
