PROJECT INFORMATION

Education new build in Aarhus

New Aarch - a school of architecture designed for experimentation. The new School of Architecture in Aarhus at Godsbanen is designed as an open and flexible learning environment where teaching, workshop-based learning and architectural experimentation come together. The building’s raw, industrial expression provides a robust framework for everyday life at the school, allowing spaces to adapt as needs change over time. At the same time, the building opens towards the city, creating spaces for interaction between students, teachers and the public. Materials play a central role in the architectural expression, and a:gain supplied 2,000 m² of Hjælmø end-grain wood flooring for the project. Its distinctive end-grain structure adds warmth and materiality to the raw spaces while providing a robust surface that fits naturally into the school’s workshop-inspired architecture.
