Appearances

Funderø combines carefully selected hardwood boards in defined species and surface mixes. The result is a floor with a naturally varied tone and texture, where subtle differences in grain, colour and finish create depth and visual rhythm across larger surfaces.
Each project can choose between defined wood combinations:
- Oak & Ash
- Beech & Maple
- Oak & Oak with mixed surface treatments. Reach out to our sales team to discuss availability.

Variations
Variations
Natural knots, filled areas and tonal shifts are part of the material’s character. After installation, selected areas may be filled to achieve the final surface expression. This finishing step is part of the system and ensures a uniform, durable result.
Funderø is designed for commercial environments where material authenticity and long-term performance matter more than absolute visual uniformity.

Surface Finishing Examples
Surface Finishing Examples
Funderø is delivered with natural variations that may include knots, small cracks or tonal shifts. After installation, selected areas are filled to ensure a durable and coherent final surface. The filling integrates naturally into the floor’s expression and becomes part of its overall character. See Funderø Surface Quality Sheet & Spartling & Filling Guide for more details.
Water marks
Beautiful and unique patterns.
Edge gaps
Smaller superficial, unfilled edge gaps.
Knots
Filled knots and holes.
Small cracks
Smaller superficial checks or cracks.
Pattern
Pattern
90's
Two boards stripts are rotated 90 degrees and come in a different wood type and finish than the rest of the floor. This creates a woven effect, resembling two materials being interlaced.
Crooked Herring
This pattern adds a modern twist to the traditional herringbone plank floor. Each plank consists of two rows of stripes or staves, laid in an uneven pattern. With a mix of wood types and finishes, the floor creates unique experiences depending on the viewing angle
Banded
The pattern runs in one direction, with the row staggering alternating between 129 mm and 450 mm. This creates an effect of the boards being coupled two and two, whilst still blending somewhat into each other
CO2e Footprint Calculator
Calculate the real impact of your next project
Use the CO₂e Footprint Calculator to estimate how much discarded material you prevent, and how much CO₂e you save, when choosing Funderø parquet flooring instead of conventional hardwood floors. This helps you document sustainability benefits in tenders, DGNB submissions, and client presentations.
Funderø is manufactured from discarded hardwood boards excluded at the final quality stage of Danish parquet production. While these boards have more visual variations, and in some instances require a finish treatment after the floor is laid, it has no effect on durability or performance.
This approach reduces resource waste and results in approximately 77% lower CO₂e emissions compared to comparable solid parquet products (A1–A3, C1–C4). The environmental performance is documented through a verified EPD, making it easy to include in the project LCA calculations.
Funderø Production Process
1. Collection of discarded boards
Discarded off-cuts with aesthetic imperfections, such as knots, cracks, etc. are collected from Junckers.
2. Sorting
The boards are sorted and stored based on wood type, length, and surface treatment.
3. Installation
Funderø is installed like any other parquet flooring, with different methods depending on the chosen pattern.
4. Demounting
When a building is renovated or demolished, Funderø is designed for easy disassembly and can seamlessly enter our take-back system for reuse.

FAQS
Frequently Asked Questions
General
Covers sourcing of hardwood offcuts, durability in commercial interiors, structural performance, and what to expect from a solid upcycled parquet floor.
Where do you source the wood? Is it FSC certified?
Where do you source the wood? Is it FSC certified?
Funderø is upcycled from offcuts, originating from Junckers’ flooring production. Around 2/3 of the wood origins from FSC and PEFC certified forestry in Denmark, Germany, Poland or Sweden.
What defects can occur on the planks? How many defects are there?
What defects can occur on the planks? How many defects are there?
All planks exhibit various defects or ‘qualities’ that results in their rejection during production. Most defects are visual such as knots, water damages, or off-coloured surface finish. Additioinally, minor physical defects such as cracks, small gaps, or uneven surface finish may occor. The less common and more significant physical defects that should be repaired include larger cracks, missing knots, and substantial gaps in the wood. For more info on qualities and their quantities please read our Surface quality and Guidelines found in our Download Centre.
Customisation & Variants
Explains available wood combinations, surface expressions, and laying patterns and how these choices influence the final architectural expression.
Can I choose a different combination of wood types?
Can I choose a different combination of wood types?
Funderø comes in a standard of either oak or a combination of beech and maple. The selected combination features a mix of glossy and matte surface treatments, with each wood having its own finish. While we do not generally recommend alternative combinations of these wood types, we are open to discussing your preferred choice if your project is substantial and suited to this option. Feel free to reach out to us for further dialogue.
Maintenance & Installation
Outlines installation principles, subfloor requirements, finishing, and long-term maintenance of solid hardwood parquet in professional projects.
Does the floor need treatment after installation?
Does the floor need treatment after installation?
The floor is pre treated with a lacquer but filling of bigger holes and cracks is needed. The boards are discarded in production and contain a wider spectrum of surface defects than a virgin material standard flooring. We suggest that only the bigger cavities are repaired. For orders below 200 m², approximately 15 in total per 50 m² are expected, while for orders above 200 m², approximately 20 in total per 50 m² are expected.
4.5.
For more info on qualities and their quantities please read our surface “Surface Quality and Guidelines” in our Download Centre.
Can I mount the planks in a different pattern?
Can I mount the planks in a different pattern?
We do not recommend mounting the planks in a different pattern than the ones we specify. The quantities delivered will be specific for the intended pattern, specified upon order.
What is the installation price?
What is the installation price?
The installation price depends on the selected variant and the total square meters. You can use our price calculator to get an instant estimate, where the price dynamically updates based on your choices. The calculator will also show you the estimated number of installation days.
