Building product manufacturer

We are a building product manufacturer. We just start from a different place

a:gain develops and produces certified building products for the construction industry. Like any other manufacturer, we work with documented materials, established production processes, quality assurance, and technical testing. Our products are designed to meet the requirements of professional construction and come with the documentation needed to specify, procure, and build with confidence. The difference lies in where we take our starting point.


Instead of relying on virgin raw materials, we start with secondary resources: materials that already exist within the economy but are no longer being used for their original purpose. By developing new products around these resources, we can significantly reduce the need for virgin raw materials and create products with a documented lower CO₂e footprint, while delivering the same reliability, performance, and documentation expected from professional construction products. 

A manufacturer with a different raw material

Every a product starts with a material stream that already exists. It might be wood that has been sorted out for visual reasons, glass that does not meet the strict optical requirements of a roof window, or production off-cuts that no longer fit their original manufacturing process. These materials have not lost their technical properties. What they need is a new application and a product designed around their characteristics. 


Not every material stream is suitable. We look for resources that are available at scale, technically consistent, and capable of supporting a product that can be manufactured, tested, and documented to industry standards. From there, we develop building products with defined specifications, repeatable production processes, and verified performance. The material source is different, but the expectations placed on the finished product are exactly the same. The result is a building product that combines documented environmental benefits with the performance and predictability required in modern construction. 

The process

How secondary resources become building products

Every a product follows the same overall process. While the materials and technologies differ from product to product, the principle remains the same: identify a suitable resource, develop a product around it, manufacture it consistently, and document the result. 

Step 1: Finding the right material stream

We begin by identifying materials that retain technical value but are no longer being used in their original context. This could be wood sorted out for visual reasons, glass units that do not meet specific optical requirements, or production off-cuts that are the wrong size for an existing manufacturing process. We focus on material streams that are stable, available at scale, and suitable for professional construction. The goal is not simply to find materials, but to find resources capable of supporting a reliable and documented building product.

Step 2: Developing the product

Once a suitable material stream has been identified, product development begins. Specifications are defined, performance is tested, quality criteria are established, and installation methods are developed. Every product is designed to meet the practical requirements of architects, contractors, and building owners. The result is a product with defined dimensions, documented properties, and a production process that can be repeated consistently over time.

Step 3: Manufacturing at scale

a:gain works with established manufacturing partners who bring decades of experience in industrial production. Products are manufactured through controlled and repeatable processes with quality assurance throughout production. This ensures that performance remains consistent from project to project and from batch to batch. Scale is important. Reliable supply chains, predictable lead times, and consistent product quality are essential if circular material solutions are to become part of mainstream construction.

Step 4: Testing and documentation

Every a product is supported by an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), providing transparent and third-party verified data about the product's environmental impact. For architects, developers, and contractors, this documentation makes it possible to incorporate our products directly into LCA calculations, DGNB certifications, sustainability reporting, and project-level carbon assessments. Depending on the product, additional documentation may include technical data sheets, fire testing, installation guides, warranties, and other relevant certifications. Documentation is not added afterwards. It is developed alongside the product and production process, ensuring that both performance and environmental impact can be tested, verified, and communicated transparently.

Step 5: Design for disassembly 

Our products are designed with future use in mind. The products can be disassembled, recovered, or returned through take-back systems, helping extend the value of the material beyond a single lifecycle. Tystø partitioning walls, for example, can be returned through our take-back system and reprofiled for new applications. By keeping materials in use for longer, we support a more resource-efficient approach to construction.

For architects, contractors, developers, and building owners, the result is straightforward. a:gain products can be specified, procured, and installed like any other professional building product. Documentation is available, performance is verified, and delivery is predictable. EPDs can be incorporated directly into LCA calculations and certification schemes such as DGNB. Lead times and product specifications are defined. Quality is tested and documented. 


The starting point may be different, but the process of building with our products is designed to feel familiar.
